Dr. Newton Award

Dear friends,

It has been a month since the unexpected passing of our friend and colleague Chris Newton on May 29th, 2016.  In honor of his many contributions to patients and peers, we have set-up the “Chris Newton MD Excellence in Education and Diabetes Care Award” at the University of Florida School of Medicine.

The University of Florida will honor his legacy every May with an award and lecture held at the University of Florida by an outstanding world leader who is seen as a role model diabetes educator, clinical researcher and caring clinician.  The aim is to continue promoting the values that Chris lived for and find novel and better ways to improve the lives of people with diabetes.

We are asking all those who have had their lives impacted by Dr. Newton and his many contributions in teaching, clinical research and patient care in diabetes to make a gift in support of the Chris Newton MD Excellence in Education and Diabetes Care Award” who did so much for students and peers, our department, and our field. Please help us honor his contributions in perpetuity, and keep the his name forever associated with excellence in diabetes care.

Please consider using the enclosed Gift Form or call Ms. Toni Juliano at 352-273-7840 if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Kenneth Cusi, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.E.
