The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is active in a variety of clinical activities by providing evaluation and management of the spectrum of endocrinological and medical disorders including but not limited to: adrenal disorders, diabetes and related complications, diseases and disorders of the thyroid, evaluation and management of thyroid nodules and tumors, gynecomastia, lipid disorders, osteoporosis, parathyroid and calcium disorders, pituitary disease.
Diabetes Center of Excellence The Diabetes Educators and Dieticians provide diabetes self-management education as well as community education. Patients may be seen Monday through Friday at the Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties (IMMS) clinic located in the Shands Medical Plaza Building. Pituitary Endocrine Clinic:
Patients with pituitary disease may be seen on Tuesday’s, by Dr. Sreevidya Subbarayan in the Pituitary Endocrine Clinic which is located at the Neurosurgical Specialties Clinic in the UF Health Shands Hospital on the 1st floor in room L2-100, just beside the outpatient lab off the UF Health Shands atrium, 1600 SW Archer Road, Gainesville. Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), Gainesville
General Endocrine clinics are held on Monday and Tuesday mornings at the VAMC under the supervision of Dr. Kenneth Cusi. The Diabetes clinics are Friday mornings and afternoons. There is a Thyroid Nodule/Cancer clinic on Tuesday afternoons as well. There are daily classes on use of the glucose monitor as well as classes in nutrition and Diabetes management. In addition to the Diabetic Limb Preservation Clinic there are two podiatrists who see our diabetic patients (as well as others) with a variety of foot problems. All in all, the VAMC Endocrine Division provides services for patients with lipid disorders, diabetes, thyroid disease, parathyroid disease, adrenal disorders, osteoporosis and pituitary disease, etc. As a regional referral center, the VAMC treats a wide variety of interesting rare and common endocrine problems.
The Endocrinology Attending Physicians and Residents provide in-patient consultations to Shands Hospital and the VAMC, Gainesville.
