About Charlie Khemtong
Dr. Chalermchai “Charlie” Khemtong is a chemist by training. He received his B.Sc. from Ubonratchathani University in Thailand and his Ph.D. from the University of Akron. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern), where he later rose to the rank of assistant professor in the Advanced Imaging Research Center. Dr. Khemtong joined the University of Florida faculty as an associate professor in the summer of 2020. The research in Dr. Khemtong’s group is focused on understanding intermediary metabolism using stable isotope tracers, primarily carbon-13, combined with magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry techniques. His group is also developing novel imaging methods to detect metabolic abnormalities associated with diseases such as diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and cancer.
